It was tough even after all my training. Hard sections were the uphills.....I realised that the uphill at my housing area were no where as steep as the ones I ran today.
I started off with a good pace. Infact, my normal pace was already good enough to overtake MOST of the runners. Continued running for another few KM when...towards a longer and steeper uphill, MY SIDE STITCH CAME. It was so painful that I was on the verge of giving up. I slowed down my pace and trying my best to not think about it. Eventually, the pain subsided.
I continued running till I reached Bukit Bintang from Merdaka Square. When the uphill section came, my side stitch came again. It was fucking painful till I had to STOP and WALK.
My legs were so heavy after walking... I had to force myself to run again. It was like that forawhile.... Walk....run....walk...run. I wanted to just walk all the way...but all sorts of thoughts came into my mind. I've trained hard for this...and I'm walking? I don't care about my pride and ego but it was seriously tough. I started running again. But no matter what I try...I had to walk once in awhile.
Suddenly, I saw this uncle still running despite the distance. I saw his band around the neck. It was the 10KM run. I was freaking amazed that despite his age....he joined the 10KM run. I got so motivated, I started running and pacing myself. I kept this pace till i saw the TENTS at Merdaka Square. I RAN with every last bit of energy left in me to overtake a number of people.
But when I was about to reach the finishing line, there was a man saying "All 10KM runners in the M category please line up". I WAS LIKE WTFFFFFFF. I already passed that line not knowing wtf that queuing up was for. I had to quickly RUN BACK to get in LINE.
Really.. WHAT THE FUCK. Despite all that, I manage to get my certificate of completion, which is what I have been aiming for apart from the medal. My pace was not fast enough for me to get a medal. However, my friend, Weng Aun got his cert and MEDAL. Congratulations man!
Here are some pictures before and after the running day.
