Orange Run day...9KM....and I haven't trained or ran ever since the KLIM Ambank run(10KM). Although I run 1.5KM in the gym for warm up...I'm not sure if it can be considered as training.
Woke up about 4.50am....only to find out that it was raining. I felt like giving up the run but I was thinking how it would be like....can I run this 9KM distance? Actual distance will be revealed later. But I was kinda lazy lol....
Anyway, I woke up about 4.50am... I sms-ed my friend Frank about the situation at his place as he stays at Kota Damansara ( Updated already Frank HAHA Thanks )
He replied saying the rain has reduced to a drizzle at his area. So without wasting anymore time, I went downstairs, grabbed my cup....took 4 table spoons of Nestum and tea spoon of condensed milk. Nothing like waking up in the morning at 5am for a cup of Nestum? Okay was just kidding.
As the drink was still too hot, I packed my clothes for after the run and for the rest of the day(I've planned to go to my gf's place after the run...and will be coming back home only at night). After double checking everything, I proceed to shower....changed....got really excited for the run. Finished up my cup of Nestum for all the good carbs before the run!....and I left the house for The Curve...a slow drive as it was still about 6.30am when I left the house.
Arrived at The Curve's carpark about 6.55 or 7.00am...Walked out towards Fitness First(At time I wasn't sure where that is). Eventually found the place as Frank told most of us( "us" being Runnerz and other friends).
Frank, Me(Putting on the bib number)...the other person..unknown..sorry.
After putting on the bib, met up with a few other friends from Lowyat forum
- AKchang - Andrew
- Smallbug - David
- yklip - Sorry >.<>
- Terence?
The route of the Orange Run
We gathered at the starting point as the Men Open and Men Veteran (Updated...thanks Frank) category were 1st to start. Got really excited as all walks of life joined this run.
BANG! The signal that says GO!!!!!
I paced myself this time. I started off with a moderate speed. Slower than my usual but felt VERY comfortable. I don't care if you think I'm lying but I ran throughout the entire run!!
Things that I've corrected ever since my KLIM 10KM run
After reaching the top, the pain sort of subsided. I tried not to go too fast with the downhill. During the run, I also saw this group of teenage indian girls running so fast towards the downhill! And one of them were bare footed! I was like WTF??????
Anyway, it was a mix of uphill and downhill from there onwards till we reached a Chinese School. I continued at a comfortable pace till Sony(or Ex-Sony) building. The uphill towards that Sony building was the LAST uphill and I told myself not to go fast! Maintain pace!. I've been telling myself although sometimes we tend to go faster sometimes! Even though I was overtaken by God-knows-how-many-people-young-or-old-aunty-uncle, to me, it was me and myself that I want to test.
As soon as I've ran passed Sony, it was a flat road ALLLLLLL the way back to The Curve. I continued controlling my pace...passing by McDonald, CenterPoint....finally...crossroad of 1 Utama where Turning left is to the New wing while turning right will be to the old wing of 1 Utama.
Finally, after running pass 1 Utama, I've arrived on the highway where the junction towards The Curve is on my right. A great sign of relief. I'm not kidding you. I was running with alittle side stitch and to able to complete this run, I was fucking happy. I kid you not. I ran all the way with minor side stitch.
As soon as I passed the finishing line, I thought I needed to check my time with them or something. I forgot to press stop on my G-Shock watch. Anyway here are the details:
Distance: 9.98(Frank's GPS). 9.89KM(Pacemaker-Carboman)
Time: 1 Hour 12 mins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm freaking proud of what I've achieved till date.
I met up with the guys after the run, chatted for awhile before bidding farewell. I went to the car park to change. Went to IKEA to get something for Edmund :D the stupid box hahahahahaha
Left IKEA and proceeded for breakfast

- I slowed down my pace.
- I keep that pace...trying my best not to increase my speed but keeping the same pace.
